Rage is an illness

Sometimes I can become so readily discouraged
from all the rage and confusion
and offensive and defensive sides
all the fake news and real truths
the unwillingness to concede
and learn
and grow

I wish I could take each person in a room to myself
just us and our energies trying to understand each other
and I would try my best to meet them in the middle or more
to make them feel vulnerable and safe
and know what an exhilarating peace it would bring them
maybe they would crave it from then on out
and rebuke destruction

(I know the rage I contain
I see it in my memories
in my mother's eyes within my memories
I know rage is greedy and needs to be fed
I know rage is egotistical and needs to be right
and it will consume you, if you let it.)

I still feel idealistic and optimistic
and hope the world will return to its Mother.
