The sunlight gives us life
I woke up like a kid on Christmas Day
and saw the light streaming in
little beams through my windows
it danced on my face and my eyes
and I awoke with a smile
I scrambled out of bed and looked out the window
Such beauty litters the world
I ran outside and greeted the sun!
Good morning, and thanks for coming!
Come in, stay a while, let's talk some more.
We sat and smiled together
As time passed, I realized I needed to start my day.
I ran inside and brushed my teeth,
and raced through a shower,
and hurried back outside
so I could bask in the sun as I dried my skin.
The sun is life

The surfer
The lone wave seeker
Sits and waits patiently
Gazing at the horizon
In search of that one wave
That's meant for him
She doesn't slow down or give up
She flows endlessly and without fail
Let's out wave after wave
And all meant for someone
She is the God here
She is the one they pray to
She gives and takes
And doesn't care or feel guilt
Or shame or need rest
We analyze and plan
And try to manipulate
And sometimes that wave is not ours
And we try to steal or beg
And she has no ears for us
She doesn't listen to our dreams
She only knows her own
And every once in a while
She will form before us
A wave, a mountain
And calls us to it
And we sail on top and
She laughs with us
She nods in agreement
And all is well
But until then
We sit and wait
We don't look to our left or right
Wishing and allowing envy
We look ahead and know
That she will bring what she has
When the time is right
